Building Software
Solving Hard Problems

I’m Gerard, a Computer Science graduate and Electrical Engineering master’s student. I build software, work with scientific data, and explore the systems that connect computation with the physical world.

01 / SELECTED WORK

Projects With Depth

A closer look at the problems, design decisions, and technical work behind the projects.

2025TEAM SOFTWARE ENGINEERING

Restaurant Booking & Operations

A Java/SQLite restaurant operations application built by a five-person team. As one of two primary developers, I implemented reporting, table management, employee and staff workflows, and contributed to reservation improvements with David Sanchez.

2026ACADEMIC CLOUD WORK

Google Cloud Dataproc Migration

Helped migrate a six-person team's email spam-classification workload from Colab to Dataproc Serverless and a single-node cluster. Documented PySpark preparation, Keras training, cloud debugging, and a 0.9628 F1 recorded Serverless result.

02 / ABOUT

An Engineer’s Mindset,
Developed Across Disciplines

My work spans software development, scientific machine learning, and a growing foundation in electrical and embedded systems engineering. I earned my B.S. in Computer Science from California State University, Dominguez Hills, graduating Magna Cum Laude, and I’m currently pursuing an M.S. in Electrical Engineering at California State University, Los Angeles.

Before moving into technology, I developed years of experience leading teams and solving practical operational problems. That background shapes how I think about ownership, communication, reliability, and building tools that people can use.

03 / CURRENTLY EXPLORING

Where Software Meets Hardware

My graduate studies and independent work are focused on developing practical embedded-systems skills, with a longer-term interest in aerospace computing and avionics.

CubeSat-inspired electronics and telemetry work is in preparation. This is an ongoing learning project, not a completed spacecraft system.

Embedded Systems & Avionics Foundations

Microcontroller fundamentals, sensors, measurement tools, C/C++ practice, and structured test/debug workflows.
